The room
Black steel and old oak.
Because it wears well, not because it photographs well. The floor is the original 1902 boards, sanded twice and left alone since. The chairs are Belmonts from a shop in Leeds that closed in 2011, rebuilt one at a time over a winter.
We have never had a television on the wall and we never will. The radio plays at a volume you can talk over, and the coffee is free whether you are having a cut or waiting for someone who is.
You are here for thirty-five minutes. It should not feel like a shop floor.
Walk-ins take the first free chair. Bookings hold theirs to the minute — and if we run late, which happens perhaps twice a month, the cut is on us.

SIX RULES
Ten years before the chair
Every barber here cut professionally for a decade before we let them near your head. There are no juniors on this floor.
Thirty-five minutes minimum
We do not run twenty-minute slots. It is the single reason our cuts grow out properly.
No deposits
Book, and turn up or tell us you cannot. We have never charged anybody for changing their mind.
Consultation every time
Including your fortieth visit. Hair changes, and so does what you want from it.
Every hair type
Straight, wavy, curly, coily. Femi built our curl and coil work and trains the rest of the floor in it quarterly.
Six products, no upsell
We make what we use. Nobody here earns a penny on what you buy at the counter.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Always. First free chair, no queue system, no ticket. Saturday mornings you may wait forty minutes; Tuesday afternoons you will walk straight in.
No. It is a barbershop rather than a salon — short hair, clippers, razors — and anybody who wants that is welcome in the chair.
From eight upwards, at £24, and only when we are not slammed. Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons are the honest answer.
Say so in the chair. We will fix it there and then, and if it cannot be fixed we do not charge you. Coming back a week later is fine too.
Yes — beard architecture is thirty minutes and £28 on its own. Plenty of people come only for that.

Walk in, or hold a chair with a specific barber. Both work. Neither needs a deposit.
